We advise compliance schemes on chain analyses and eco-efficiency directions for cost efficient and environmentally effective take-back and recycling and provide system and recycler auditing and research services as well as strategic advices.

We advise scientists on the lastest electronics and environment research and research applications and provide scientific articles, peer review studies and a literature database.

We advise NGOs and consumer groups on eco-efficient take-back and recycling and provide factual evidence for the environmental impacts of electronic products as well as directions for long term solutions.

Who is who?

Dr. Ir. Jaco Huisman


Jaco Huisman is Director of a the successful predecessor of OsevenfortytwO (Huisman Recycling Research) since 2004 and also Project Advisor to the United Nations University in Bonn, Germany which is coordinating the STEP Initiative (Solving the Ewaste Problem). STEP is an initiative of various UN organizations with the overall aim to solve the e-waste problem. Together with prominent members from industry, governments, international organizations, NGOs and the science sector actively participating in StEP, it initiates and facilitates approaches towards the sustainable handling of e-waste. Jaco Huisman coordinates one of the five Task Forces (TF Recycling) and several STEP projects in Europe and China. He is the lead author of the most comprehensive WEEE related study performed in the EU so far: The EC - DG Environment 2008 revision study of the WEEE Directive which was completed beginning of August 2008.

After completion of his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 1999, he finished his Ph.D. in 2003 at Delft University of Technology, with the book entitled: The QWERTY/EE concept, Quantifying recyclability and eco-efficiency for end-of-life treatment of consumer electronic products.

After that he continued his work at Delft University of Technology as a Postdoc in commission of the Dutch Ministry of Environment, Philips Consumer Electronics – Environmental Competence Centre and NVMP (Dutch take-back system for electronic waste). Adjacent tot his, he runs his own consultancy company Huisman Recycling Research by which he is given advice to OEM’s, national take-back systems, governments and recyclers in Europe, the US and China on using eco-efficiency evaluations to improve operations, waste policies, system organization and product design
